The Visual Artist Information Hotline is a toll-free information service supported by the New York Foundation for the Arts. Individual artists in any of the visual arts may call 800/232-2789 to receive information and referrals. Topics covered by the service includes emergency funding, health and safety insurance, artist communities, artist-in-residence, international opportunities, proposal writing, public arts programs, studio, space. Legal information and publication. Artists can speak directly to staff between 1 pm and 5 pm EST Monday-Friday or leave a voice mail message at any time. Also, the information provided by VAIH can also be accessed via Internet at www.nyfa.org/vaih. |

| Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts: Nonprofit Incorporation and Tax Exempt Status - DC Dates: February 27, April 24 and June 26. This workshop provides valuable information about starting a nonprofit organization. State law issues to be covered include articles of incorporation, bylaws, and director action by written consent in lieu of an organizational meeting. Federal issues to be covered include Internal Revenue Code section 501 (c) (3) and corresponding regulations; application for employers identification number; IRS disclosure rules; unrelated business taxable income; charitable contributions; and restriction on lobbying. | Tomorrows World Art Center: CAPITAL CITY ARTISTS SHOW - DC Deadline: Postmarked no later than February 10, 2001. Tomorrows World Artists Center is pleased to invite you to participate in the Capital City Artists Show, our second exhibition at the Childrens National Medical Center, 111 Michigan Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. The exhibition will be shown at the New Horizons Atrium Galleries 1 and 2 on the first floor, Thursday, March 8 to Wednesday, May 2, 2001. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of art work in a variety of media that may include painting, graphic arts, collage, mixed media and photography in formats up to 30 by 40 inches. All work must be ready to be hung. A non-refundable fee of $35.00 is required of each artist for the exhibition. The registration fee may be submitted by check or money order payable to Tomorrows World Art Center, Inc., P.O. Box 56197, Washington, DC 20011. As an exhibitor the Medical Center is requiring a 25% commission for artwork sold. The centers manager promotes the sale of art since there are many visitors and employees who pass through the galleries. Work purchased will be paid at the end of the show by CNMC.
